Two SURFPAC Sailors Named Filipino American Sailors of the Year

National City’s “Filipino Times” newspaper recently named six U.S. Navy Sailors as Filipino American Sailors of the Year during the Filipino-American Festival in San Diego, Calif. Among those recognized were GSM2 Maria Antonio from USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108) and EN2 Samantha Angosta from USS Comstock (LSD 45).

The award was presented to Filipino Sailors who demonstrate outstanding leadership ability, professional knowledge, performance, and military bearing. Presenting the awards was Commanding Officer of Naval Base San Diego, Capt. Winton Smith.
