SURFPAC Celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month
Sailors are continually educated on the many cultures, traditions and histories of various ethnic groups. Navy commands across the globe observed Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month this May, which encompasses the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.
Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (SURFPAC) celebrated the month with Samoan song and dance from Ola Mo Keriso dance youth group, traditional Filipino cuisine, and remarks from CDR Fernando Guingab, USNR. CDR Guingab is a native of Manila, Philippines and currently works as a mechanical engineer in SURFPAC’s Combat Systems Department.
