SURFPAC Celebrates the Navy’s Birthday
Commands across the globe are celebrating the Navy’s 237th birthday this Saturday. Sailors took time to reflect on significant events that have taken place in naval history, including the War of 1812, which served as a critical turning point for our Navy. Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet celebrated by ringing the bell, signifying the start of a new watch and a new year, and by reading a message honoring naval history and heritage.
As Navy tradition goes, the oldest and youngest Sailor in attendance cut the ceremonial cake. Pictured above, Vice Adm. Copeman and Information Systems Technician Seaman Craft set their sights on another 237 years.
