SURFPAC Celebrates Black History Month

LSCS Jackquelyn Foley performs an interpretive dance during the SURFPAC Black History Month celebration

During a ceremony organized by the SURFPAC Junior Sailor Association, staff members celebrated Black History Month today with lively entertainment and insightful remarks from their fellow shipmates. They didn’t have to look any further than their own staff to find a worthy guest speaker, Force Master Chief Brannon Knox. Event organizers shared significant facts from the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 and the March on Washington of 1963. With interpretive dance, dramatic improv, and the singing of the African American National Anthem; staff members paid homage to the rich culture and significant contributions made by African Americans throughout history.
